It’s time for REI’s big Anniversary sale where you can save 20-30% on stuff to make going outside more comfortable. I stocked my online cart yesterday with goodies – and might add another item or two before the end of the week. See what I got – and comment down below if you’ve tried any of these items. (Note: No affiliate links here! I have not yet been approved for REI’s affiliate program. I offer these for good old fashioned online shopping fun)
Lowa Renegade GTX Mid Hiking Boots – Women’s
$255
I am in desperate need of hiking boots to keep me from spraining my ankle. These were very comfy, and come in eight different colorways. I took my normal athletic shoe size.
The Lowa Lady Lights are a similar heavy duty backpacking boot that can be resoled. I wanted to love those but these fit better. C’est la vie.
REI Co-op Flash 22 Pack Orange
$41.89 during the sale
I’ve had my eye on this lightweight pack for ages. When I travel, I usually bring my work backpack, which isn’t suitable for the trail. Or I empty my Osprey day pack to bring, but it doesn’t have pockets for laptop/tablets. This was lightweight and packs down to fit into my suitcase (hopefully). I wanted the gray, but will make do with the orange. I was influenced by LaurensBigAdventure on IG (link to her blog).
Nalgene Sustain Graphic Width Mouth Bottle
$7.89
I am a serial water-bottle loser-er. Imagine this with a nice big Hi Friend’s It’s Laura sticker on the front.
(want a sticker? DM me on IG and I’ll mail you one!)
Komperdel Fieldmaster Powerlock Cork Compact Trekking Poles – Red
$56.58 using the REI Outlet code
I have no idea if these are good trekking poles. I bought what I thought were trekking poles during a secondhand gear sale at Wonderland Sports. As it turns out, I bought long distance cross country skiing poles.
These were inexpensive, in stock, collapse down, are lightweight, and pretty.
REI Trailmade Self Inflating Sleeping Pad
$55.89
The Exped Deep Sleep 7.5 was soooo nice but was 2x the price (also out of stock in store). I have yet to actually camp on my own so we’ll see if I need anything fancier. Comment down below – did I make the right choice?
Exped FlexMat Sleeping Pad
$29.89
I want to start camping, and the sales associate said this would be a good thing for Ruby to sleep on. Sold.
Salomon X Ultra 4 Mid GORE-TEX Hiking Boots – Women’s
$131.19 during sale
If the above are too $$ for you, these are on sale during the REI sale, and come recommended by a friend. I went with the Lowa because they are a notch taller, which I need for my old lady ankles.
Patagonia Black Hole Duffel 40L
$159
I did not yet purchase this. I’ve wanted one of these for AGES and could use it on my big trip next month. It’s just so much more than the REI packable duffel, which is on sale for like $30 right now. Halp!
